Effective Leadership – How to Become A High Performing Leader

You’re an Executive, Leader, Business Owner, Manager or Supervisor and want to build a healthier workplace…

To have Effective Leadership and be a strong Leader, you need to develop a high level of emotional intelligence.

Looking at your own strengths and weaknesses starts with Social and Emotional Intelligence and that begins with ‘awareness’. Being self-aware means being honest with yourself. Once you can be honest with yourself, you can start to assess and understand your own emotional intelligence. A self-aware Leader has a far greater capacity to manage and understand the workplace. It has been proven time and time again that Leaders who lack self-awareness are poor decisions makers.

Being armed with the knowledge of your personal strengths and weaknesses isn’t a shortcoming, its ‘smart business’. Effective Leaders have sharp perception and understand how they’re perceived by the people around them. Effective Leadership can be taught and it is Emotional Intelligence which sets a great Leader apart from the competition.

It has often been noted that those chosen for Management roles have a high IQ and/or great technical skills. It is widely known that whilst, those are essential elements, it isn’t what makes a Leader great, it is ‘Emotional Intelligence’ that makes the difference.

Effective LeadershipEffective Leadership requires varying skill levels and draws from a multitude of facets, for example, communication, goal setting, motivation, team building, negotiation, these are just some of the attributes of a real Leader. Interestingly, all of these stem from your ability to connect with others on an ‘emotional level’ and all of these feed back into your degree of emotional intelligence.

Not all Leaders are skilled in every area of the workplace. What is essential, is understanding that you can’t do it alone. A true Leader will delegate to those with a certain ability and build strong teams by hiring the right people for the right job. Effective Leaders have an honest level of communication, can articulate a message well and constantly work closely with the people around them.

TIP: The above picture is an example of poor Leadership, don’t let this be you.

How Do You Get ‘Emotional Intelligence’?

Emotional intelligence can be learned and is often more prevalent as maturity increases however, this isn’t the driving factor.Neocortex and Limbic System In the past, training programs for Leaders have been taught by pursuing the neocortex part of the brain. Part of this training has unfortunately also tried to include ‘emotional intelligence’.

Scientific research tells us, that we are born with a small degree of emotional intelligence, how much exactly is unknown. Research also tells us that emotional intelligence is best learned through the Limbic System which manages your emotions, impulses, feelings, memory and drives your motivation.

In order to remove old habits and change unwanted behaviours, firstly you need to identify what they are. This can be done using specific tools and techniques, and once these areas of concern are identified, only then can you start the transformational process and replace them raining has unfortunately also tried to include ‘emotional intelligence’.with new learnings which are targeted towards the Limbic System. Using this methodology, with pinpoint accuracy you can understand how to improve your own Social and Emotional Intelligence skills. Our 26 competency areas do just that by measuring your strengths and weaknesses.

Don’t settle for second best, nobody remembers the runner up. To standout and be the great Leader you know you are, make a decision and begin your transformation today.

To be emotionally intelligent is to have the capacity to problem solve and reason with validly.

Great leaders’ have vision, they’re charismatic, and have a high level of Social and Emotional Intelligence and an innate ability to listen to those around them.

TIP: The key to failure is trying to please everyone, the key to success is ‘emotional intelligence’.

This Effective Leadership program is NOT limited to the upper escalon of Management however, traditionally in the past it has been. Anyone wanting to improve their Effective Leadership and Social and Emotional Intelligence muscles and who communicates with others (that’s probably the majority of people) should understand what level of emotional intelligence they have.

TIP: Being emotional aware improves ones social effectiveness in business and society in general.

How Does The Social & Emotional Intelligence Profile (SEIP)® Work?

Utilizing the SEIP® tool, your personal strengths and weaknesses are measured in 26 competencies (with social and emotional intelligence coaching could be turned into potential strengths).

You’ll be given an extensive colored Report personalized for you. This will reveal your full Social and Emotional Intelligence Assessment. The Assessment will detail exactly what ’impact’ you have on others around you in the workplace, in each of the competencies.

An initial coaching consultation will ‘unpack’ your results, providing you with a full overview of the Report.

A 360 Report is also available and can be conducted separately. This is where your supervisors, peers and subordinates assess you. The results are collectively compiled with a final Report which assesses how others see you in the workplace. This Report is conducted anonymously, so you won’t see individual results if there is a collective group doing the assessment.

The ‘unpack’ of the 360 will be undertaken with you and your supervisor together.

Both the Individual Report and 360 Reports are highly effective tools for the workplace. Many organizations are adopting this methodology as a ‘standard’ must have for Management because of its accuracy and long term benefits to an organization. The SEIP® has proven to not only be a substantial cost saving for companies, it has also had massive benefits on the reduction of staff turnover (again, providing more financial benefits) and decreased the need for constantly training new staff. As you know, any new staff member coming on board (at any level) has an inherent cost to a business before that staff member becomes a financially viable asset to a company.

TIP:   People who have developed Effective Leadership skills are high in emotional intelligence, have a far greater psychological understanding of those around them and; generally are able to see what others can’t see. It is why they make such great Leaders!
